Orangutan Jungle School

20 x 60' Love Nature/Smithsonian Network

Deep in the heart of Central Kalimantan, Borneo lies Nyaru Menteng, one of the most unique schools in the world. This school doesn’t teach math or science though, as its students are orphan Orangutans.

Orangutan Jungle School is a unique education system in Borneo where hundreds of orphaned orangutans progress through a series of jungle classes and pre-release islands, where they learn the skills they’ll need to survive in the wild. Currently, there are 68 students in class, divided into five groups according to their age and skills.
