
Synopsis:
Opus 97 Southern Journeys (2000) for orchestra and film, composed by Anthony Ritchie. The four movements of this visual symphony describe landscapes and wildlife in the deep south of New Zealand. Southern Journeys was specially commissioned and performed at the conclusion of the inaugural Otago Festival of the Arts on 15 October 2000, at the Dunedin Town Hall. This performance featured a backdrop of NHNZ film sequences projected on to a large screen and crafted to match the mood of the score performed by the Southern Sinfonia.
