Following the recent acquisition of a major stake in the leading South African production company Aquavision, NHNZ has announced that it has become the lead-agent for Aquavision’s stock footage library and that Aquavision’s footage can now be licensed through NHNZ Moving Images – NHNZ’s stock footage library.
NHNZ Moving Images manager, Caroline Cook, says Aquavision’s amazing footage will boost NHNZ’s existing Africa high definition (HD) holdings, making NHNZ the one-stop shop for Africa HD. “In total we will have over 10,000 hours of Africa stock footage available for licensing,” she says.
Aquavision’s stock footage library is one of the most comprehensive in Africa and has been growing steadily over the past 20 years, containing more than 3,000 hours of high definition (HD) wildlife footage.
Aquavision head librarian, Christo Ras says that the company is delighted that their extensive footage collection will now be available through NHNZ Moving Images. “Our camera crews film in National Parks and wildlife and private reserves in both Central and Southern Africa. The excellent working relationship we have with parks boards, wildlife organisations and conservation groups allows us privileged access to areas ordinarily closed to other filmmakers. As a result we have captured unique footage of a wide diversity of species, cultures and travel destinations, and explored some of the most beautiful and remote locations in Africa.”
Aquavision’s library also includes stunning underwater footage, filmed throughout the Indian Ocean archipelago.
Caroline Cook says with the Soccer World Cup in South Africa only two months away, NHNZ’s Moving Images is now in the position to fulfil most HD requirements for broadcasters and production companies wanting to do set pieces and background productions on South Africa. ”Not only can we provide wildlife footage but we also have plenty of footage on culture, places and even the stadiums where some of these games take place.”
