Saving Africa’s Giants with Yao Ming nominated for an Emmy Award!

We are thrilled to announce that Saving Africa’s Giants with Yao Ming has been nominated for Outstanding Nature Programming at the News & Documentary Emmy Awards.

First airing in November 2014, the one-hour documentary was produced by NHNZ and WildAid Inc, in association with CCTV9, for Animal Planet. The documentary follows Chinese basketball superstar and WildAid ambassador Yao Ming as he journeys to Africa see with his own eyes the shocking consequences of the illegal ivory and rhino horn trade.

NHNZ Managing Director Kyle Murdoch says, “It is a rare honour to get recognition for a film with a cause that everyone at NHNZ is truly passionate about. It has also been exciting to work with an internationally renowned figure like Yao Ming, who has already made a real impact on the demand for ivory not just in China but around the world.”

The News & Documentary Emmy Awards will be presented on Monday, September 28, at a ceremony at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall in New York City.
